Alec R. Costandinos Vol. 1 - Love And Kisses [Full Album + Bonus] (1977)

Playing Next: Masayoshi Takanaka - An Insatiable High (1977 - Full Album)

Alec R. Costandinos was born to Greek-Armenian parents in Cairo, Egypt, 1944 and had enjoyed considerable success as a songwriter in France, writing pop hits for the likes of Claude François, Dalida, and Demis Roussos. By 1974 he was part of the proto-disco group Kongas and the Afrikana-O product where he befriended drummer Marc Cerrone. The two of them produced a ground-breaking side-long disco track in 1976, Love In C Minor, which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Disco Charts. With Cerrone getting all the credit for this, Costandinos was not happy and the two parted ways acrimoniously, Costandinos seeking to show he could do just as well on his own.

His first LP bore the studio project name Love And Kisses and featured only two songs, Accidental Lover and I've Found Love. It was recorded at London's Trident Studios in Soho with British musicians and well-known sessions singers such as Vicky Brown and Sue & Sunny. The original release by Barclay Records in France was immediately snatched up by Casablanca Records, the home of such acts as Donna Summer, Village People, Parliament and Kiss, and released in the US in July 1977 where the album topped the Disco Charts for 3 consecutive weeks. The spoken intro of Accidental Lover was missing on the US album.
