\"American Style\" is the first album of the San Francisco band Porn, sometimes typeset as Porn (The Men Of) and now simply known as Porn. The band of Dale Crover and Billy Anderson. They toured with Melvins on their \"Double-Drumming Rock for Peace\" tour at the end of 2006, and later played a set of dates during 2008 while opening for them on the 2008 Dog Tour.
\"When your band is called the Men of Porn and your CD is titled Porn American Style, the logical assumption is that you're providing an album of music used in porno films. But truth be told, this collection of 1996-99 recordings has nothing to do with pornography -- and it doesn't sound anything like the soundtrack to a Marilyn Chambers, Andrea True or Linda Lovelace film from the 1970s. The porno theme is simply an attention-getting device, and once the Men of Porn have your attention, they hit you with abrasive, in-your-face alternative metal. This isn't an album that goes out of its way to emphasize vocal personality; combining the sledgehammer guitar riffs of Men of Porn leader/Ritual Device graduate Tim Moss with a noisy production style, a lot of distortion and elements of punk and industrial noise, the band often buries vocals way down in the mix-and sometimes, it doesn't use them at all. Even though Moss provides vocals on many of the tunes, his guitar playing is really the focal point. Much of the album has a loose, casual, jam session-like appeal, and while Porn American Style falls short of mindblowing, it's an exhilarating, if uneven, disc that headbangers will enjoy.\"
