In this session I breakdown how I perform the Scratching Solo for my joint \"Knuckle Duster\" on the Roland SP-404A. Credit where due, I originally saw Jeremy Ellis do this on the Maschine (https://youtu.be/tL1zmHzk6MU) and was inspired to try to pull it off on the SP-404A.
1:30 - Pre-Game
Set all samples to GATE Mode.
[REMAIN] select all samples
[DJFX LOOPER] CTRL 1 & CTRL 2 full RIGHT. CTRL 3 full LEFT.
1:46 - Technique
Turn SP404A on an angle.
Right Hand: Fingers rest around Tear Samples (Pads 3,4,7,8) and stretch out to access Vocal Samples (Pads 2,6,11,12) and Sub Pad. Try to play samples as short as possible.
Left Hand: Middle finger rests on CTRL 2 and controls the Pitch of the DJFX Looper.
3:03 - Jam through the Solo.
Give it a go and let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, if you have any Questions feel free to hit me up here or on Instagram.
