Here is the fourth opus, second full length album and very last release from the Symphonic/progressive/gothic french metal band Aegirson : \"Sons Of Etheria\", a concept-album and without a doubt their finest work.
Sons of Etheria tells a story about an imaginary world populated by different tribes and species.
After Carole wasn't anymore in the band, Aegirson continued Without a female singer, Sabrina the new Keyboardist does some additional female vocals.
The band recorded the album between Summer 2006 and 2007 but wasn't released until 2008.
In terms of quality, this is the best they've done, the band's music is at it's peak and the story told during the album is very well described (you can see that in the booklet, everything is described and illustrated).
Like for Requiem Tenebrae, the band wanted one or two guests on some of their sobgs, Charly who sings on \"Obscure Destiny\", \"Ruined Nation\" and \"De Profondis\" was recommanded to the band by Sabrina & Claude (Simonin, who produced the album, he will replace Tommy on guitars when he left Aegirson shortly before the album release), Bam² (aka Jean-Baptiste Beaumont, Geof's brother) does some guest vocals on \"Army of the Dead\" - Jean-Baptiste is the Singer and guitar player of the Progressive Metal band Angel Of Pain, Geof, Bertrand, Tommy & Jean-Baptiste (Chalmandrier) also played in this band for a short time -.
Tommy left the band to focus on his other band Blackened and Claude joins the band just before the album was released, unfortunately Thundering Record disappeared at that time and the album never had the promotion expected.. this was hard to swallow for them especially at the point they were.
Aegirson did a last series of gigs in 2010 then the band broke up in 2011 because of the difficulties everyone had to reunite for rehearsals and concerts.
It was the end of 15 years of a passionate musical adventure achived by a group of friends which did more than 100 gigs in France and in Luxembourg and got a lot of good reviews about their music (totally deserved in my opinion).
Since 2007, Geof started to work on Aegirson's third album but who knows when it will be released ?
And that's it, Aegirson wasn't as successful as they deserved to be but their music remains unforgotten and is still enjoyable to listen to.
A huge thanks to Geof who give me the 4 CDs of the band and who told me everything about Aegirson's story, it was a pleasure to discover this awesome band !
