\"The idea for this record came about from discussion with our engineer during the recording of our last album. He explained in great detail how certain paranoid factions of the internet were all abuzz about a potential alien invasion that was supposed to occur on the night of October 16 2008. The world would be destroyed in a matter of hours. Due to my persistent pulse as I type this I can only assume that the invasion never actually happened. It did provide fodder for the discussions that followed? What if it were true? How would we spend our last few hours? These are the questions that tend to get asked after one bong hit too many, but they do set the stage for some interesting dissections of the Western ideal or like people on our side of the pond like to arrogantly call it: The American Dream. The songs that follow tell the stories of a random assortment of people and how they might spend their last few hours alive during such an incident. A few disclaimers must be made, however. 1. None of us ascribe to the idea that this scenario would ever occur. Visions of little green men bounding across a real life version of Space Invaders make for a fantastic setting merely because the general populace would have no preconceived notions on how to react. 2. I do not suppose that anyone would actually react in any of the ways described. They are simply stories made up. That is all. It may be possible to see how someone may react given the situation told, but I can not reasonably set up the possible motivations for one person's behavior and accurately describe their reactions within the time frame of a 4 minute song. I'm just not that good. So save the inflammatory emails where you give me your best polemic on how my apocalyptic vision is outside the realm of the \"real\" human condition. It has all been in good fun and nothing else. Cheers, ------Matt\"
