German pressing of a #3 UK and #7 US hit from 1969. The disc reached #9 in Germany and #8 in Australia. It was the group’s 20th UK chart hit, in a run that began in 1963 with “(Ain’t That) Just Like Me”.
The song was first recorded by Kelly Gordon on Capitol in 1969. Subsequent versions followed from, among others, Neil Diamond, the Osmonds and Bill Medley (for the film, “Rambo III”).
Bobby Scott had earlier written “A Taste Of Honey”, which appeared on the Beatles debut UK album, “Please Please Me” in 1963.
