Michael Nau and wife Whitney McGraw's The River Strumming was their debut as Cotton Jones Basket Ride released on September 23 2008.

The LP was limited to only 300 copies on the indie label St. Ives and was not reprinted.

Next year (2018) will be the 10th anniversary of the album.

Suicide Squeeze Records needs to reissue this classic.

\"To Death With You\" is the greatest ballad of heartbreak Mazzy Star never wrote. \"The Spinning Wheel\" sounds like a lost gem from the Velvet Underground's third (and by far best) album. \"Midnight Monday\" is a Southern Gothic dreamscape. \"I Was Stoned By the Choir\" contains will-o'-the-wisp background vocals and morphs into a reggae rhythm. \"I Do What I Do\" has a damn good danceable nocturnal groove--impossible not to nod your head along to.

If you want to hear the coolest record of the 2000s--this is the one.

(Best listened to on Sunday nights at 11:43 p.m. so you will hear \"Midnight Monday\" at 12:00 a.m.)
