this project of mine was originally called \"lonely robot and the melancholy machines\", until i realised lonely robot was taken already, so i just took melancholy machines. i came up with the name in late 2019, on one of my various saturday journeys through my city centre. i was part of a theatre company who met every saturday: i met my closest friends and we made my fondest memories there. after rehearsal, we would always walk through town, making conversation. we would make our way to the train station, where we would separate to go to our respective platforms. i entered the train with whatever tyler, the creator or modern baseball song was playing in my earphones, and i would watch the sunset fall under the buildings as the train moved.

i remember their voices. their faces. their bodies.
it was perfect.
on the 29th of june 2020, i had a mental breakdown, which nearly lead me to being put on antidepressants. i was anxious that i had lost the people i trusted, and that i wasn't going to get them back. and that lasting thought made me a nervous wreck. it didn't seem like there was a solution. i had to implement a coping mechanism, so that i could be distracted from my feelings. on that night, i created the album cover and the album title. the name entered my mind in an instant. the picture features my electric guitar, which has helped me to express what i want to assert for the world to listen to. i was questioning myself being brutally honest in my words, but then the remaining thoughts i haven't conveyed, will stay cooped up in my mind.
