Almost exactly a year after the release of his debut album (Unfall), Chase Tremaine returns with his sophomore record, Development & Compromise. Pushing that album's early-aughts emo sound in new directions, D&C sees the multi-instrumentalist pulling from punk, prog, and jazz, resulting in twelve tracks that are as fun and catchy as they are raw and introspective. Written and performed entirely by Tremaine (and recorded over the span of a single week), this set displays more of his life story and musical influences than its predecessor, taking what started out as an \"island of misfit\" songs which he passionately wanted to memorialize, then transforming them into a unified, triumphant sophomore release.
