Here's my video game vocal cover of K.K. Cruisin' from Animal Crossing New Horizons ft. Marriland! I'm Sab and I love saxophone and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!
When I heard Marriland whistle for the TRGlovania project, I reached out to him almost immediately and suggested we do a video together! I thought KK Cruisin was the perfect fit since his whistling is really similar to the theremin-like lead instrument in the original. The New Horizons version of KK Cruisin is probably my favorite version of the tune. I loved getting to sit in my music room in game, and pretend to solo over it on the piano, saxophone, etc.
I've been trying to experiment a bit more with electric piano, drum beats, and synth bass. It's been a lot of fun to explore new genres a bit! Devin did such an incredible job on the tune! He was so much fun to work with! HUGE shoutout to Devin for doing a solo as well! He messaged me with the first draft of whistling and was like, oh yeah I did a solo. And it was totally awesome!
I didn't really find saxophone to fit in this cover, so it was nice to use the other instruments in my arsenal. There's been a lot of chill covers recently, which is great. But I'm super excited for the video coming out in 2 weeks. It's definitely different!
