Stranger In Paradise (Wright-Forrest) by The Four Aces, featuring Al Alberts, orchestra and chorus conducted by Jack Pleis
With words added to a melody by Borodin from the Polovtsian Dances sequence of his opera “Prince Igor,” “Stranger In Paradise” was the most popular tune to emerge from the 1953 Broadway musical “Kismet.” The song itself spent six weeks atop “Your Hit Parade” with three different top-10 vocal versions sharing the bulk of record sales.
Trailing slightly behind the Tony Bennett single, this Four Aces version (paired with the popular flipside “Heart Of My Heart”) sold over a million copies and was the first Aces record hit to feature what became their patented formula of a highly-produced show tune ballad, backed by the full Decca studio orchestra & chorus conducted by Jack Pleis.
