Il nome vero di Ada Neri era \"Maria Rita Ceretto\", nata nel 1895 a Santo Stefano Belbo in provincia di Torino.
In realtà il suo vero cognome prevederebbe la doppia R, scomparsa invece per uno dei tanti errori (peraltro frequentissimi in quei tempi) di trascrizione anagrafica.
Soprano molto attiva negli anni venti e trenta sia nel campo dell'operetta che della canzonetta.
Iniziò proprio con la lirica sotto la guida del famoso maestro Veneziani, istruttore dei cori del prestigioso \"Teatro alla Scala di Milano\".
Quindi spostò la sua attenzione...forse anche per motivi economici sul mondo della rivista.
Sono oltre 400 le canzoni da lei interpretate in una carriera che proseguì senza pausa alcuna sino alla fine degli anni trenta.
Sono centinaia dunque i dischi 78 giri incisi , prima per la prestigiosa etichetta americana Brunswick quando questa veniva in Italia prodotta e distribuita dalla Fonit-Trevisan,poi, e per la stessa Fonit contribuendo in molti casi al lancio di veri e propri classici della canzone italiana quali Violino Tzigano, Il tango delle rose e molte altre.
Ada Neri morì a Milano ove da tempo si era trasferita nel 1978.
