this is the most expensive record i ever bought, £80 back in 2006. i no longer have the record as i sold it. one of my biggest regrets! fortunately, i did remaster a dub of it before i did.
the story goes that in september 1932, al was suffering from a heavy cold, but al being al, left his sick bed and ventured down to the columbia studios where he'd been recording with carroll gibbons & the savoy hotel orpheans. by chance, he bumped into debroy somers, who needed a vocalist for this recording, listen to the german band. this was the only recording that al ever made with somers, and is one of the rarest bowlly recordings out there. i've included some funny snaps of al that you may never have seen before, plus side b, drink up, & have another one, with a vocal by dan donovan.
