In 1980, in the wake of international fame, Yellow Magic Orchestra embarked on a world tour and released a mini-album titled 'X∞ Multiplies', which was made up of half new songs and half comedy sketches by Snakeman Show. Meanwhile, two of the group's members, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi, both somehow found the time to release solo albums that same year.
But what if, in 1980, YMO had gotten together to make a proper full-length studio album? That's what I tried to imagine here. Culling tunes from all three of the aforementioned albums, I tried to make as comprehensive an imaginary album I could muster, complete with a few special fade-outs and segues mixed in by me. I hope you guys enjoy it! If you have any ideas for any other imaginary album I could compile, let me know!
