1938 Jimmie Grier - Says My Heart (Julie Gibson, vocal)

Playing Next: Drifting Away
Random Page  /  Random Song

“The Musical Host Of The Coast” Grier recorded this at his very last commercial session of the decade. Composed by Frank Loesser and Burton Lane, “Says My Heart” was among the most popular tunes of 1938. It was introduced onscreen by Harriet Hilliard in the now-rarely seen Paramount musical “Cocoanut Grove,” which starred not Ozzie Nelson, but Fred MacMurray as Harriet’s leading man. The featured band was Harry Owens and his Royal Hawaiians

From 78rpm Decca 1797 - Says My Heart (Lane-Loesser) by Jimmie Grier & his Orchestra, vocal by Julie Gibson, recorded in Los Angeles April 15, 1938
