It's about time I tried to make some acid on my newest Volca, the Volca Sample. So this tune was created using all internal sounds apart from one short 303 sample that I loaded in using Voysr which is a free third party app for windows which allows me to dump anything from my sample library into the Sample size permitting.
By tweaking the sample start position knob by hand and using the motion sequence to modulate the pitch envelope in place of pitch slides like a real 303 it's possible to create some movement in the 303 sound even though it's just a sample. I've also tried to stretch my patterns out a bit here with a few tricks, firstly the patterns save the mute states of the parts so it's possible to program a part and then unmute it later in the progression to let things build organically. Plus the vocal pad layer has it's sample length set to zero when it's loaded so it only appears when that knob on it's part is tweaked.
All in all i'm finding the Sample very power and I don't feel as though I've explored everything it has to offer just yet.
