“Yazoo” è stato un gruppo musicale inglese di musica Synth-Pop/New Wave. La band fu fondata a Basildon (Essex) da Alison Moyet (cantante) e Vince Clarke (tastierista). Nel marzo 1982 uscì il singolo di esordio “Only You / Situation”, che in pochi giorni raggiunse il secondo posto nella classifica dei singoli nel Regno Unito. Dopo l’uscita del secondo singolo “Don’t Go”, il duo registrò il loro album di debutto “Upstairs at Eric’s” ai “Blackwing Studios” nel sud-est di Londra, dove Clarke aveva registrato l'album dei Depeche Mode “Speak & Spell” l'anno precedente.
