The preservation effort needs your help: https://patreon.com/uncommonephemera

In lieu of financial patronage, I am in desperate need of volunteers to help crop and straighten the raw scans of hundreds of educational filmstrips I am trying to preserve. Contact me at uncommon.ephemera@gmail.com if you can help.

\"Songs of the Letter Peopleยฎ from...'The Letter People on TV!'\" It's a 2-LP set from the children's show of the 70s and early 80s. The LPs themselves have a copyright of \"1972, 1978. by NDE, Inc.\" NDE was New Dimensions in Education, Inc. in Norwalk, Connecticut. From the jacket:

THESE RECORDS will teach children to recognize the sound of each of the 26 letters of the alphabet and do it in a way they'll love.

The songs are taken from THE LETTER PEOPLE TV SERIES now seen on more than 100 educational TV stations. This series takes children beyond Sesame Street, beyond reading readiness, along the high road to decoding, spelling, reading, and writing.

EACH OF THE LETTER PEOPLE'S SONG exposes children to a different kind of music. There's a rich variety of moods, sounds, tempos, and rhythms to which they may move and sing along or simply listen to and enjoy.

Many of the selections invite active participation through drama, pantomime and imitation, such as Mr. S and his Super Sockss, Mr. N and his Noisy Nose and Miss E and her Exercises.

Some of the songs are of a home-bred American character. Mr. P has a country sound as he sings in Nashville-style about his Pointy Patches. Mr. C's song has a distinct New Orleans flavor. And there's a ragtime touch to Mr. F's funny Feet.

Other songs take children on a musical world tour. Mr. Z zips through his song with a Polish polka. Mr. V shows off his Velvet Vest in an oh-so-elegant English minuet. Mr. D offers his Delicious Doughnuts to the tune of an Argentinian tango. Miss U and her Umbrella trip through an Irish reel. And Mr. R sings his rollicking song about Ripping Rubber bands to the rhythm of the Hungarian czarda.

All 26 songs will prove to be excellent teaching tools - and boys and girls will have fun singing, learning and doing.
