The record is called “Mala Noche” which means ‘bad night’ in Spanish. The reason for the name is because every song on the record has been made to listen to on a bad night, those nights when you find yourself stumbling back home alone at 3 am after not making any decent human connections or meeting anybody interesting. All you have is yourself, the empty wet road leading to your apartment, and some drunken thoughts. I’m longing for love and yet unable to accept it. I’m trying to play it cool but deep down I know I’m just a mess. But I’m happy about it. And so on this walk home there’s a little part of me that’s smiling and knows that if i’m gonna take part in this life, the only thing I really can do is enjoy the moment and get to know myself truly. So that’s really the record thematically. It’s a celebration of solitude, it’s a resilient drunken shout into the cosmos screaming “this is what I’m feeling, take it or leave it”.
