The fusion scene exploded in the 70s, and a lot of it was happening in France. Bassist Gilles Douïeb created Chute libre in 1975 with three other friends from Boulogne Billancourt (France): Olivier Hutman on keyboards, Umberto Pagnini on drums and Mino Cinelu on vocals and percussion. After signing with EMI, integrating a brass section, two excellent albums and several hundred concerts, including one Olympia in 1978, the group split in 1979. All members of Chute libre have since had great careers in the world of jazz or classical music.
