Some people say this tune sounds like Clocks by Coldplay. Thatd make sense, since this is the ICE path theme Insaneintherainmusics jazz cover / remix of Ice Path / Dark Cave from Pokmon GSC.

I believe that video game music is a hugely important part of many of our lives. To pay tribute to these fantastic compositions and their composers, I arrange their compositions in various jazz styles! I release video game jazz arrangements on this channel every other Saturday at 12:30 PM EST!

This song is one of the classics from Pokmon Gold and Silver, and Ive wanted to arrange it for such a long time! The bass ostinato here is practically screaming for a latin jazz arrangement (at least thats how I see it).

Of the various cave themes that the Pokmon series has had to offer over the course of many generations, this one and Mt. Moon are probably my favorites! This cave theme isnt as foreboding as cave themes can get in other various RPGs; rather, I get a sense of adventure and progress while listening to this one.

As I mentioned earlier, the bass ostinato was the main impetus behind my choice to arrange this in the way that I did. The bass pattern at the beginning of the tune works really well as a phrygian bass ostinato, and can create a low of cool harmonies when juxtaposed to the various chords on top of it! I also opted to convert part of the melody into a double time swing section for the sake of contrast (I tend to do that a lot!), and reharmonized it as well. Theres also a reference to the Silph Co. theme in there, which Im not sure fits in very well thematically (especially since thats a theme from Kanto), but I think it sounds cool in the context of the arrangement. Theres some other cool stuff in this particular arrangement, like a 3/4 melody performed over a 4/4 rhythmic pattern after the solo, a full band soli, and fun solo backgrounds! I had a lot of fun writing this arrangement, and I hope you have just as much fun listening to my take on this great theme.
