My song 'Emerald', performed live at the Tuar Ard theatre in Moate in 2019 while opening for First Day Lions. Lyrics:

Someone bell the shades, theres a new hotel on my house
If you cant earn living wage here in this city, just move out
Theres no space here for activists, or artists, or the poor
And if you cant abide by that then youre not welcome anymore

Land of a thousand welcomes, unless your skin is brown
Well ship you to a centre somewhere miles outside of town
We know youd like to work here and you want to pay your tax
But if youre from far east of here, we might just send you back

Thats a lovely line of trees, lets rip them from the ground
Someone mentioned emerald, but I just see grey and brown
Some forums on the web might question what we did that for
But clearly what we really needs a new bus corridor

Here now lads, this homeless thing its getting out of hand
Cant they just be more like us, and rent or buy some land?
You cant have that spot there though, its reserved for parking space
But dont be daft, be patient, and Im sure youll find a place

Thats a lovely meadow, why not fill it up with silt?
And kill all the frogs and fishies, and not feel an ounce of guilt
Just follow your orders now, and just do what youre told
Til the only life thats left around is the damp and dirt and mould
