Brokas Helm is the personification of the \"cult band\".
Black Death has all the elements of classic metal, but it's overly joyful rendition that makes it almost incomparable to anything else on the market then and now. You have almost medieval melodic solos, proto-speed metal riffs, blues phrases and Motorhead solos, and solid vocals ... that accidentally seem to have been thrown into a blender under layers of psychedelic grain. The vocals are buried under an almost unnecessary amount of ghost echo effects. Sounds of clinking swords, thunder or battle roars appear out of nowhere. Bass solos are great when the listener least expects it. Solos and solos go into parts of the song where other bands stop playing. It all sounds like it was recorded on a radio that flew out of someone's car, and the songs rushed past with an almost grindcore intensity.
An underrated, brilliant piece of mysterious metal that rivals the greatest genre of the 80s.
