Billy (1911) Galen Wilkes' Palm Leaf Ragtime Orchestra
Billy was a 1911 popular love song using ragtime rhythms in a slower tempo. It became the signature tune of vaudevillian and silent screen star Billie Rhodes, who changed her stage name to \"Billie\" when she became identified so much with this song. A personal friend of Galen Wilkes', she appeared with the orchestra just before her death when she was in her 90s, bringing the house down with her stamina and humor. Arrangement by Galen Wilkes.
