Sue Thompson - ANGEL, ANGEL (1961)

Playing Next: Barry White - You're So Good, You're Bad

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Hickory 1144) Out of Nashville, this tune recorded February 2, 1961 and issued in June of that year, is the debut single by Miss Thompson on Hickory Records after her departure from Mercury. It unfortunately did not chart and it wasn't until the following release, 'Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)' also from 1961 that she would have a hit. Produced by Wesley Rose, 'Angel, Angel' is a lush, country/pop number that not surprisingly sounds very much like the tracks on Roy Orbison's first two Monument LP's. The same session musicians were used as well as the same background vocalists, 'The Anita Kerr Singers' and the same recording studio, RCA Victor Studio B.
