Mr. Tambourine Man was the first hit single for the Byrds. It was written by Bob Dylan. The musicians on the record were for the most part, members of the Wrecking Crew. Hal Blaine on drums, Larry Knechtel on Bass guitar (He also played piano of S&G's Bridge Over Troubled Water and was a member of Bread), Jerry Cole on Rhythm guitar and Leon Russell on electric piano (buried in the mix, but still there). Roger McGuinn was the only \"Byrd\" to play on the recording. McGuinn, David Crosby (CSN) and Gene Clark handled the vocals. We did our best to recapture the original sound and feel of the Byrds' recording..
