While Paul Whiteman and The Rhythm Boys were enjoying large success with this song over on his very own 'Potato-Head' designed label of Columbia, Many others were cutting it too, including the Bellhops with Lambert as heard here on the Columbia's dimestore Diva label. And it's rumored that Bix Beiderbecke is supposed to be on this record, and that's not too farfetched since he was in a few other Broadway Bellhop cuts
The Broadway Bellhops was a band made by Sam Lanin, comprised of some of the best Talent in the area at the time. Apart from those in his own orchestra and other insignificants from the Columbia Studio, they included the likes of Larry Abbot, Red Nichols, Bix Beiderbecke, and others. The band played mostly hot and peppy arrangements through it's short life. Sometimes described playing \"with assembly line efficiency and concert virtuoso polish\", and the vast amount of multi-label singers on it only improved their sounds. There were the usual Irving Kaufman, Scrappy Lambert, Arthur Fields, Ernest Hare, etc. But there also good vocal groups thrown into the mix including The Harmony Brothers, and The Westerners too.
The band formed in early 1926, being used exclusively for the Columbia dimestore labels of Diva, Harmony, and Velvet-Tone. In 1927 for a short time some of their releases were put onto Silvertone. In mid 1928, they broke up, and it wouldn't be until 1950 that the band would get one reissue on the short lived Temple label of two songs they did that Bix was featured in.
