A cut from the Glasgow band's super Hats album.... which was produced in 1989 fter a prolonged delay in which an entire album's worth of work was scrapped.
Saturday Night was the third single from the album and was released on January 14, 1991.
Hats received rave reviews, including a rare five-star rating from Q magazine. The album was recorded in the same studio as much of their previous work, Castlesound in Pencaitland, East Lothian.
In 2000, Q magazine placed it the album at number 92 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. In 2006, Q placed it at #38 in its list of \"40 Best Albums of the '80s\".
