In honor of what would have been the 92nd birthday of Harry Smith (1923-1991) this year, watch this mini-documentary about his influential 'Anthology of American Folk Music,' told through the perspectives of other musicians who have been inspired by the \"improbable\" piece of music. The video footage is from a 1997 concert celebrating the CD reissue of the anthology.

First published in 1952, Harry Smith's 'Anthology of American Folk Music' continues to influence folk and rock musicians worldwide. In 1997, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings reissued the Anthology in a 6-CD set, earning GRAMMY awards and gold certification. That same year, concerts and a symposium were held in honor of Smith's work.
