\"Castle Lololo\" from Kirby's Dream Land (also used for Dyna Blade, Mag Mount, Wham Bam, Big Boss etc), composed by Jun Ishikawa () and arranged for brass quintet by Alex Hill.
Notes from the arranger, Alex Hill:
\"The Castle Lololo theme is a perfect example of Jun Ishikawa's take on spooky castles. The piece retains all the excitement and flair of Kirby music in general while maintaining a level of mystery. The castle is full of ghosts, cannons, and this uneasy melody that keeps driving forward as you move through the level. Eventually you find the castle's owners, the twins Lololo and Lalala, and must defeat them to continue. Lololo, Lalala, and the castle itself presents a mix of cute and creepy aesthetics that really comes together through the music of this area.
While the original level from Kirby's Dream Land didn't show up in Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra, the Castle Lololo theme comes up time and time again in different scenarios across many Kirby games through Dyna Blade, Mag Mount, Wham Bam, Big Boss etc. The theme even returned in the most recent Kirby game, Kirby Star Allies, on the results screen.
For my arrangement I wanted to keep the forward momentum and excitement of Kirby music, while showcasing each instrument in the brass quintet format. The accompaniment parts at 0:51 through 1:05 reference the rhythmic motif of one of my other favorite Masahiro Sakurai games, Super Smash Brothers Melee. Hence why it plays during the Tuba solo.
Kirby games, the music, and the subsequent projects by Nintendo, HAL Laboratories, Masahiro Sakurai, and Jun Ishikawa's composition has had a strong impact on my life and many others across the world. We're really happy to share this with you!\"
