Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe, aka Jelly-Roll Morton, began recording in 1923 on the Paramount label, then switched quickly to Gennett and later Okeh. However, on September 15, 1926 he made his first recording for Victor with his own composition on this 20221 and literally hit the ground running. There is nothing timid or shrinking violet about this hot arrangement and I'm sure it got everyone's attention!
