Here's a new take on an old classic. Those of you who've been here for a while may remember that Kraid's Lair was one of the first videos I ever uploaded nearly four years ago! Been meaning to re-arrange my arrangement for a couple of years now, just never got around to it.

I made some changes to it; added a new section in the middle and changed up the ending. This piece was freaking harrrrrd. I don't even want to think about how much time I spent trying to get a good take of it. The individual parts aren't so bad, but when you stack them back to back it becomes really difficult. Particularly the sections with the eighth-note runs. There's a super awkward interval in there that's like a G-flat to a B to an A that was murder.

I'm pretty happy with the take I got, considering, but I could have probably done better if I had another few weeks to practice. Alas, YouTube punishes those who fall behind on upload frequency. Also; I'm not the most disciplined pianist, haha.

I recorded DI this time so this is 100% live. Weeeeee. The samples that my keyboard has are pretty good, but someday I want to figure out how to mic an acoustic piano and do it that way instead. I'll need to buy an acoustic piano first.

Either way, I hope you guys dig it. I really tried hard to make sure the arrangement itself was correct and faithful to the original.

In other news... I've got a brand new cover with lyrics coming up soon. It may or may not be a song that is typically sung by an anthropomorphic dog on Saturday nights ; )

Also seriously considering recording a little acoustic EP of a certain soundtrack of a certain game that just recently had an anniversary. A certain EP that I said I *might* do back in April ; ) ( ; I'll keep you informed on that.

And also; I'm going to be at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in October! I'll probably make an announcement video when it gets a little closer. A bunch of cool YouTube friends will be there including some VGM folks. Ace, Rich and Jackson to name a few.

Anyways, thanks for watching, guys. I'll see you soon = )

Composed by Hirokazu Tanaka and arranged by me.
