Czech DJ and musician MikkiM's album Offbeat Rhapsody won the highest possible award in the Czech Republic's answer to the Grammys. In the official Czech ‚Anděl' awards, Offbeat Rhapsody was voted as 2012′s album of the year in the ska and reggae category. The album is an eclectic mix of fifteen songs with a focus on electronic dance music delivered with a reggae edge, and also includes styles like breakbeat, dubstep, house, rave, rap, jungle and drum and bass. The album was recorded in MikkiM's hometown of Prague with additional recordings put down in Kingston, Jamaica, following a 2010 excursion by MikkiM as both a producer and scout for new local talent.
Offbeat Rhapsody includes contributions from Jamaican vocalists as well as transglobal collaborations with the likes of Gary Asquith (Renegade Soundwave), Hornsman Coyote, Tribuman, and Turner Harrison. The electronic textures of the album are enhanced by the contributions of many great Czech musicians whose live instrumentation adds additional colour to the tracks. Offbeat Rhapsody also includes two songs inspired by MikkiM's favourite band The Clash.
The album was released as the first release on the new Big Bong Records imprint. A free download, including additional remixes is available here
