The Charleston is a dance named after the harbor city of Charleston, South Carolina.
The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States by a 1923 tune called \"The Charleston\".
It was a roaring 20's dance craze, spawning many other Charleston tunes. This is one of them.
Marion Harris (April 4, 1896 – April 23, 1944) was an American popular singer who was most successful in the 1920s. She was the first widely known white singer to sing jazz and blues songs.
She died on April 23, 1944 in a hotel fire that started when she fell asleep while smoking in bed.
