‘Populous Romantique’ is the first Dinosaur On Fire album since ‘Sleep Moon Voyage’ in 2012. Rather than reflecting through an objective lens, ’Populous Romantique’ engages with the idea of environment as totally defined by one’s experiences therein. Beginning with “Romance,” a grandiose five-movement suite that comprises the entire first half, the album’s synth-driven instrumentals chronologically relay a decade-long personal narrative of relocating from the city to the suburbs to the tropical coast, while painting the emotionally congruent backdrops.
