Pete David and the Payroll Union were one of the highlights of Sheffield's Tramlines Festival in 2011. Playing Greystones pub on the Saturday 23rd July 2011 they preceded this by a set on the Milestone bus which took revellers down to Kelham Island, then returned to the Devonshire Cat to a busy bus.
They followed this up on Sunday 24th July by playing a secret set outside The Milestone in Kelham Island, with no one on the bus knowing who would play they were transported to find three musicians ready to play.
