1966 HITS ARCHIVE: The Sounds Of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel (a #1 record--mono 45 single version)

Playing Next: Arthur Godfrey - The Man With The Weird Beard & Too Fat Trio
Random Page  /  Random Song

The original softer, all-acoustical master, recorded in March 1964 and titled “The Sound Of Silence,” had been included as a track in the duo’s debut LP “Wednesday Morning, 3AM.” This remixed single release added overdubbed electric guitars, bass & drums, plus much heavier reverb.

(debuted late '65) 1966 Pop Chart Peaks: Billboard, Cash Box & Record World #1

THE 1966 HITS ARCHIVE - Here in one place, a comprehensive collection of ‘pop’ best-sellers and songs which made an impact that were either released or enjoyed a major chunk of their popularity within the calendar year 1966 (some were recorded in 1965)

The original 45rpm single was issued on Columbia 43396 - The Sounds Of Silence (Simon) by Simon & Garfunkel, produced by Tom Wilson
