I’ve gotta be honest — this is one that took me by surprise. I think if you’ve seen most of my other uploads, you know I’m all about the very uplifting, inspirational, romantic, happy tracks that put you in a place of positive emotional certitude. Then I saw this album on band camp by a guy named Diett Cola, and man, it kinda threw me for a loop.
I didn’t know what the hell I was listening to at first. All I knew was this guy was skilled. He had something to his music. It was genuine — every bit as much as the others I’ve posted — but it was genuine in a way, emotionally, I think a lot of people don’t feel comfortable to be. I didn’t notice at first, but all of these tracks are reflective of very distinct emotions, most of them dark or negative. However, all throughout you can make out a faint hopefulness in the music, which eventually culminates in “A Little Sprout of Joy.”
