Though the 45 label listed only Conley and Otis Redding as the writers, “Sweet Soul Music” was largely based upon the Sam Cooke song “Yeah Man” ( listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKZc5GR-JRk ). Following legal action, Cooke’s name was later added to the composer credits.
