\"The Sun Still Rises\" is the second full-length LP from the greatest rock 'n' roll band you've ever heard in your life, bucko, you better believe it I tells ya.
The album is a leap forward for the band's sound, into dirtier, grimier territory. Recorded once again in a delirious haze punctuated by brief moments of lucidity, at Alice Cooper's old Laurel Canyon mansion, \"The Sun Still Rises\" is a psychedelic, thundering romp through Old Pappy's record collection. Well... if Old Pappy was into riding motorcycles, drinkin' beers, smokin' weed, fighting with katana swords, & ricocheting through mosh pits full of hippies.
Yes, somehow in The Absurd's frantic four-year rampage up and down the West Coast, and throughout the LA rock scene, they have assembled a remarkably diverse base of fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Ranging from stoner rock die-hards, classic rock nerds & doom heads to free lovin' hippies, indie kids & uncompromising punks, their shows are a sight to behold for any rock fan nostalgic for the days when Eddie Vedder & David Yow used to plunge headfirst into a teeming mass of bodies.
\"The Sun Still Rises\" captures the band's live energy in spades, thanks to the pummeling, yet spacy production. Engineered & mixed by Joshua Martinez, the record reflects a vast array of influences ranging from the band's roots in Detroit garage rock to their affinity for Radiohead-esque prog epics. The sound is heavy yes, but with plenty of room left for frontman Ben Foerg's expressive lyrics to breathe.
But you've probably zoned out by now anyway. Maybe the acid's just finally kicking in, degenerates. Time to press play. And as always, remember to have a good time.
