JULIE LONDON: HISTORIC "CRY ME A RIVER"

Playing Next: You've Got a Friend in Me (Randy Newman/Toy Story) Padraig Cahill Cover
Random Page  /  Random Song

Very early televised performance. Pre-dates by several months Julie's contribution to the movie THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT (1956). This staged TV presentation is a noirish masterpiece of \"black ice.\" Footage derives from THE ROSEMARY CLOONEY SHOW episode of May 29, 1956Julie's first significant guest-starring television appearance. \"Cry Me a River\" (written and composed by Arthur Hamilton) was the smash-hit first track from her debut album JULIE IS HER NAME, released just six months previously.

In this video, the song performance is followed first by a brief dialogue between Julie and Rosemary Clooney and then by The Hi-Lo's quartet who \"serenade\" Julie as they admire her magnificent first-album cover portrait.

To hear the most stunning studio version of \"Cry Me A River,\" please consult the 2010 Japanese-import CD release of JULIE IS HER NAME (1955).

NOTE: This is a video of goodwill and great admiration. Thoughtful comments and/or questions are welcome. If you are a professional and want credit I've neglected to give OR prefer that I delete this video, please contact me and it will promptly be done. Thank you.
