Peter Nelson & The Castaways were a NZ band who, like so many others, took the 'next step' and moved to Australia. \"Down in the Mine\" was the B side of their first HMV Australia 45 (3rd NZ 45), 1966. As the title suggests, it's 'down-and-dirty' blues with a killer bass-line! Written by another New Zealand musician, Peter Hindermarsh (whose surname I have seen spelled 5 different ways - this spelling is what is on the label!).
