Maurice Chevalier with Orchestra – Hello Beautiful! (W. Donaldson) RCA Victor 1947 (USA). Originally recorded for HMV, 1931
NOTE: Here is one of the American / European song classics from the interwar. Maurice Chevalier – star of the Folies Bergère and Casino de Paris during the 1920, in the 1930s he arrived to USA to make a film career and he succeeded in Hollywood, becoming one of the not very frequent cases (similar to Marlene Dietrich, Vivien Leigh or Charles Boyer ) when an accomplished European actor became in a short time a book office smash like Joan Crawford, Clark Gable or Gary Cooper. Recorded in 1931 by most of the leading dance orchestras including Jack Hylton, Sam Lanin or Wayne King, the song “Hello Beautiful” composed by Walter Donaldson was made immortal when Maurice Chevalier included it into his golden repertoire.
