These lessons are designed for guitar beginners or people with only a basic chord knowledge, and wherever possible I attempt to use simple chord shapes. Information is provided for both right- AND left-handers!

You've Ruined Me was originally played with a capo on fret 2, and I've done the same here. The song is in 6/8 time, so you count 6 beats per bar (ONE-two-three-FOUR-five-six).

Most of the song follows a simple D/Am/C/G chord sequence, but every so often the D majors are substituted with D minors, and the C majors are changed to C minors. Cm is a tricky barre chord, and I've given a demonstration at the start of alternative ways to play the chord which you should find easier. It's definitely worth persevering with the full Cm barre shape, though! It will become easier.

Throughout the song, a lot of little embellishments are made to the chords with hammer-ons happening within the shapes (I've noted the quick Dsus4 chords in the intro), but most of these I have left out to keep it simple.
