After the members of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young went their separate ways in 1970, Young recruited a group of country session musicians (which he christened The Stray Gators) and recorded a country rock record, Harvest. The record was a massive hit, producing a US number one single in \"Heart of Gold\". Other songs returned to some usual Young themes. \"The Needle and the Damage Done\" was a lament for great artists who had died of heroin addiction.

Harvest by Neil Young
Capo: 2nd Fret
INTRO C ... C/G ... C ... C/G ... (x2)
C G F C
Did I see you down in a young girls' town
G
With your mother in so much pain?
F G Am D
I was almost there, at the top of the stairs
C
With her screaming in the rain.
C G F C
Did she wake you up to tell you that
G
It was only a change of plan?
F G Am D
Dream up, dream up let me fill your cup
C
With the promise of a man.
Did I see you walking with the boys
Though it was not hand in hand?
And was some black face in a lonely place
When you could understand?
REFRAIN: Did she wake you up to tell you that..
BREAK:
C ... G ... F ... C ...
C ... C ... G ... G ...
F ... G ... Am ... D ...
C ... C ... C ... C ...
Will I see you give more than I can take?
Will I only harvest some?
As the days fly past will we lose our grasp,
Or fuse it in the sun?
Did she wake you up to tell you that
It was only a change of plan?
Dream up, dream up let me fill your cup
With the promise of a man.
Dream up, dream up let me fill your cup
With the promise of a man.
