There are a few iconic moments within some of Elvis' movies which are remembered by many and not just fans of Elvis such as the production dance sequence in Jailhouse Rock, the opening titles of Viva Las Vegas and the stage performance of \"Teddy Bear\" in Loving You. The latter provided Elvis with a deluge of Teddy Bears in the days and weeks after the movies general release and even during his concerts in the 70's many fans would turn up clutching Teddy Bears some of which even made it into Elvis' possession during the show.
For inclusion in the 1957 movie \"Loving You\", Elvis recorded \"(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear\" at the Paramount Sound Stage in Hollywood on 16 January 1957 and the thirteenth and final take was chosen as the RCA master take and the take used in the movie. The song would be released as a single and would become a massive hit worldwide. During his show during the 70's Elvis would combine the song with \"Don't Be Cruel\" in a medley usually at a point in the show where he would throw scarves to the audience or receive kisses from female admirers. The throwaway nature of these performances has been a source of consternation from fans and critics alike although when Elvis introduced it to his 70's stage show it was not ever thus. Indeed the first live performance of the 70's on 26 January 1970 in Vegas has Elvis practically spitting out the words and has to be heard to be believed!! https://youtu.be/gpAtM5B-NBg
