It's not everyday you see Jock McDermott on Winner. This record has the extra benefit of featuring Al Bowlly on one of his less frequently heard recordings from the early 1930s.
By early 1932, Jock McDermott was resident at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. It seems an unusual venue for a dance band, yet Alan Green's 1931 Piccadilly issues also credit him at the same location. Jock McDermott's band also appeared on Piccadilly but his band sound much better on Winner.
This is another example of the cache of records found some years ago at the 78 Record Exchange.
The Forbes-Rust book advises this recording dates from c. 5th January 1932 so it seems fitting to share it today. I believe it's from Al Bowlly's first recording from that year. It was during 1932 that Al concentrated singing with well known bands such as Roy Fox, Ray Noble and later that year made his first recordings with Lew Stone.
