Here's my latin jazz cover of Toad Town from Paper Mario featuring David Ramos! I'm Sab and I love jazz and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!

This project has been in the works for awhile now. I reached out to David this summer about this project and it is finally out!

Toad Town is such a cute tune from Paper Mario and such a classic. I thought ocarina would be the perfect fit for this because of the range and timbre!

Paper Mario was one of my favorite games growing up and the music was always so memorable. Toad Town kind has a fast sense of pace that makes you want to start the adventure, but there's some kind of sense of home as well.

I wanted the arrangement to reflect the cuteness and fast-paced nature of the tune. That's why the melody moves around and the tune is very open. The piano part would have been very bare for most of the tune, so I decided to do it in certain sections.

I'm so glad David could join me for this video! I've known David awhile, but we got to meet at MAGFest this past year and we had a lot of fun! He is such a nice guy and an incredible musician! And he has been making videos for OVER 10 YEARS NOW. That's crazy. Go check out his stuff!
