THE PRODIGAL SON (ALBUM)

Everything about the creation of this album and the time of my life when I made it, was crazy. I'm spilling all the beans. I had just recently moved to Georgia, and my humble following seemed to be anticipating my album drop. I had a lot going on in my life, had to get a car and a job, had no money etc, but at the same time I was tirelessly working on this album. The idea and concept was years in the making. I was 18 and had graduated at this point, but in 10th grade I made the first draft of this now iconic cover. The album was never meant to be about me, it was a story about a friend of mine who had passed away from an overdose. I was simply trying my best to tell it from my perspective. I absolutely love the vibe of the production on this album, everything is ethereal trap. I loved the sound and went through ~50 beats to end up on these 8. Cohesion was a huge focus of mine.

The first 4 songs start off with the main character feeling on top of the world, in control of everything. Act II is the downfall, Someone Else is when the character dies, and Revelations is the character having a conversation with God himself. (Admittably Drown is kind of just tossed in BUT ITS A DOPE SONG. I made that song originally in 2016 and rerecorded)

My regret for this album.. my technical ability rapping and mixing was not strong enough at the time to back up these crazy ideas I was having. I feel like tracks like Prosper and For the Check could go SO much harder. However, it's a moment in time and it is what it is. The phone recording at the very beginning is my friend Sasu, who, I was also with the night I dropped the album. We dropped acid that night and tripped to it, but acid was used regularly during the creation process as well, such as on Act II. Anyways, he is supposed to represent the voice of the main character that I am portraying. Prosper is one of my favorite beats I've ever used and still want to remix it to this day. Blackout was actually a very old song I made, around the same time as GENESIS, but I completely rerecorded it for this album. For the Check features SOM Trippie who is an old member of ROOG. This album was crazy and a monumental time in my life.
