Torture Chain returns after 3 years of silence with his newest full-length album, The Ascent of Deimos. Like the best of artists, Torture Chain continues to develop and reinvent his sound with each consecutive release; instead of re-hashing ideas presented on previous releases, Torturer took his time to create a dense, synth-laden black metal LP that channels the best of the late 90s second-wave sound and combines it with his signature punkish pomp and trad metal swagger. It’s too early to confidently deem this my “favorite” Torture Chain release, but I will surely be listening to it on repeat for months to come.
